Samantakūṭavaṇṇanā

An account of Adam's Peak — Samanoḷa, Mount Samanta: 757 verses on the Buddha's visits to Ceylon, and above all on the third, when he left the print of his foot on the mountain for the pious to worship.

Its author is Vedeha, of the 1200s CE, who also wrote the Rasavāhinī — printed in this collection as well — and says so himself in that book's closing verses; his name stands in this volume too, as vedehatherena. He gives his preceptors as Ānanda Araññaratana and the Mahātheras Maṅgala and Kaliṅga.

Godakumbura edited the text for the Pali Text Society in 1958, and Hazlewood's translation appeared in 1986 as In Praise of Mount Samanta.
