Padamañjarī

A beginners' manual of paradigms — and it says so in its first verse: tidhā namitvā padamañjarī mayā, karīyato bālakabuddhivuddhiyā, having bowed threefold, the Padamañjarī is made by me for the increase of beginners' understanding.

What follows is exactly that: the declensions one after another, from atha akārantapulliṅgo buddhasaddo vuccate — now the a-stem masculine word buddha is set out — through buddho, buddhā, bho buddha. Seven chapters: masculine nouns, feminine, neuter, pronouns, genderless pronouns, plural numerals, numerals.

It is not a subcommentary on the Padasādhana, although it stands next to that work here and shares the element pada- with it. It never names the Padasādhana and never names Piyadassi. It is an independent manual.

No author is named and no date can be given — no source on file names the work, and the text names nobody.
