Milindaṭīkā

The subcommentary on the Milindapañha, also called Madhuratthappakāsinī.

Hinüber gives it to Mahātipiṭaka Cūḷābhaya Thera and dates it probably to 1474 CE, perhaps composed at Chiang Mai — which would make it a work of the northern Thai rather than the Ceylonese tradition, whatever company it keeps on this shelf. The grouping here is a shelf division, not a claim about where the book was written.

His verdict on its usefulness is blunt, and it is recorded rather than softened: “It offers hardly any help for understanding” the Milindapañha (Hinüber 1996, p. 86, §180). It was edited by P. S. Jaini for the Pali Text Society in 1961, with an introduction that discusses it at length; a separate modern commentary on the Milindapañha was written in Burma.
