Dhātuvaṃsa

The chronicle of the frontal-bone relic — in full the Lalāṭadhātuvaṃsa, though almost nobody calls it that.

Godakumbura explains the short title: “Even the Pali version of this work has generally been known simply as Dhātuvaṃsa, possibly because the chronicle relates the history not only of the lalāṭa-dhātu, but also of several other relics”. He gives the author as a Thera named Kakusandha, who names himself in a Pali stanza at the end of the Sinhalese book.

Hinüber, who calls it the Nalāṭadhātuvaṃsa, puts it in the 900s or 1000s CE, and observes that its structure and arrangement follow the Mahābodhivaṃsa.
