Dhātupāṭhavilāsinī

An exposition of the Dhātupāṭha, the list of verbal roots that every grammatical school kept its own version of — the Kaccāyana and Moggallāna schools each had one, to set beside Aggavaṃsa's Dhātumālā.

No modern study names this particular book. Its own closing verses do. It was made sissena ñāṇatilaka therena — by the pupil, the elder Ñāṇatilaka — of the wise Padumārāma Mahāthera.

And it dates itself in the Buddha era, to about 1926/27 CE: Buddhassa parinibbāṇa vīsahasse catussate, sa sattatyādhike vasse jeṭṭhamāse manorame; aṭṭhamiyaṃ kāḷapakkhe, katāyaṃ matisūdanī — in the two thousand four hundred and seventieth-odd year after the parinibbāna, in the delightful month of Jeṭṭha, on the eighth day of the dark fortnight. One caution: the first element of that compound is not clean in this edition, so the exact year should be checked against a printed copy before it is relied on.
