Paṭṭhānuddesa dīpanīpāṭha

The Paṭṭhānuddesadīpanī, an exposition of the uddesa — the summary — of the Paṭṭhāna, the last and largest book of the Abhidhamma, which sets out the twenty-four conditional relations.

Ledi Sayadaw is the Burmese scholar-monk of the turn of the twentieth century through whom Abhidhamma study and insight meditation reached a mass lay audience — the hinge between the monastery and the layman's practice hall.

It travels in English as The Buddhist Philosophy of Relations, translated by Sayadaw U Nyana, Patamagyaw of the Masoeyein monastery at Mandalay, and stands second in the collection published as The Manuals of Buddhism.

No date of composition has been found in any source on file, and none is invented here. One caution follows from the neighbouring volume: the collection's own life of Ledi Sayadaw dates his Paramatthadīpanī to 1897 CE where Braun's plate caption gives 1907 CE. That disagreement is unresolved, and neither year should be carried across to this book.
