Anudīpanī

The Anudīpanī — Ledi Sayadaw's commentary on his own Paramatthadīpanī. Written in 1916 CE.

Ledi Sayadaw is the Burmese scholar-monk of the turn of the twentieth century through whom Abhidhamma study and insight meditation reached a mass lay audience — the hinge between the monastery and the layman's practice hall.

It is the quiet sequel to a noisy book. The Paramatthadīpanī set off a controversy by challenging the Abhidhammatthavibhāvinī. This one “raised no controversy at all, perhaps because it does not set its sights on any other esteemed text, and it follows his first work in organization and in the details of its philosophical arguments” (Braun 2013, p. 73). Its colophon ends Kammaṭṭhānasaṅgahānudīpanā niṭṭhitā … Anudīpanī niṭṭhitā.
